Northern California is a haven for sports fans, boasting some of the most impressive sports facilities and complexes in the United States. From the Oracle Arena, home to the NBA champion Golden State Warriors, to the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, there are plenty of opportunities to catch a game or two. The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum is also home to the Oakland Raiders NFL team and the Oakland Athletics MLB team. The regular baseball season starts in April and runs through October, giving you plenty of chances to enjoy a game in San Francisco's mild climate.
If your team makes it to the postseason, you'll have the chance to experience some extra exciting days. Tickets can be purchased on each team's official MLB website or through a third-party provider, such as StubHub. The Provident Credit Union event center is located on the San Jose State University campus, at Seventh and San Carlos Streets. It is home to San Jose's men's and women's gymnastics and basketball teams. The Spartans practice and play their home games at Excite Ballpark (formerly known as Municipal Stadium).
Alma Avenue, across from the Spartan golf resort, is on the south campus. The San Jose State Spartan tennis complex is located on the south campus, near CEFCU stadium. The installation includes six competition courts with lighting, sound system, seating for spectators and observation areas, and a full scoreboard. The incredible Spartan golf resort is just across the street from Excite Ballpark, on the South Campus. The Koret Athletic Training Center is located north of CEFCU Stadium and Simpkins Stadium. Since its completion in November 2001, student-athletes in San Jose have been able to develop their athletic skills in this expansive 15,000-square-foot facility.
Soccer practice fields are conveniently located near CEFCU stadium, the soccer locker room, and the Koret athletic training center. American Sports Centers also opened a second branch in Avondale, Arizona, although much smaller with 83,000 square feet. It has been successful in Anaheim and continues to look for other areas of expansion.
